Pumpkins Shmumpkins! You may think its still October, but it is only 5 weeks to the infamous:
Deeside Defenders Christmas Do!!
Because many of our members have partners and children to go xmas shopping with and office parties to get drunk at, it has always been traditional that the club runs its Christmas Do early in December, this year is no exception.
Thursday 5th December 2024
Long time members will be aware that we make a bit of a fuss at Christmas. Its less of a gaming night and more of a chance to socialise. We also put a lot of effort into the Christmas Meal, Raffle and Painting competition. We are expecting over 90 people to attend this year.
Christmas Meal
We offer a heavily subsidised Christmas buffet. This year is no exception. We shall confirm prices in the next couple of days but you will be able to buy a ticket for the meal which will include fees for the game night from any of the committee members that take your regular fees. Buy early. For the love of the Dice Gods and my sanity BUY EARLY!
The Christmas Raffle
Our raffle is a 'big deal'. We do not attempt to make money on it, we cover costs or use it as a way of giving back to the membership at the end of the year. Last year we had over £500 worth of prizes and we expect to eclipse that this year. Tickets are £1 each and will be available from tonight from any club committee member. Prizes will be purchased by the club officers so if you have great ideas for a prize, tell them.
Christmas Painting Competition.
With so many people in attendance, its a great time to show off your painting skills and get a trophy. There will be separate announcements on the details for the competition in the next few days from our Painting Tsar* Pete Morton.
Note: you really want to enter this competition as I won it last year with this entry and I promise to be unbearably smug if I win it again.... :-) * Pete makes us call him that.
RESTRICTIONS
Sadly there is a downside to the growth of the club. Space will be very limited at the Christmas Do. As a result we have a few limitations on attending. You are HEAVILY encouraged to organised small games with multiple players. No one will be able to play a 6x4, 2 person game. Think of this as a great opportunity to wear a silly hat and play that odd card game or board game that Aunt Ethel bought you three years ago, with six other nutters. Or simply come along and enjoy being part of Wales' Premier Gaming Club! Oh, and as we have everyone gathered together, we will of course take the opportunity to look back on the year, say some thank you's and award some trophies.
