Well, it's all over! The WTC: World Team Championship 2024 is over!
40 Nations, 320 Players, 2,240 games, 8,960 hours of top-level play and several tonnes of Belgian beer later... it's safe to say the nerds of the world are exhausted.
Team Wales 40K Didn't manage to improve their status beyond a tier 3 team, however, we have sown the seeds of future growth with a number of new and talented players.
Wales sent their best and brightest players to Belgium a week ago and I have to say, we really gelled as a team, the teamwork experience sharing, and great stories will stay with me forever.
Team Wales will now begin the long process of team selection, and this will be open to anybody from the deeside defenders who wants a chance to join in (as a player or coaching staff). So i invite you to keep your ears out for national events if you want to get involved.
Additionally, Deeside defenders have been invited to be part of the national effort, run events and build the national communitee. a great honour and a testament to the work we have all put in over the past few years.
Well done all!
Wash up
On a personal note, I am pleased that my first attendance wasn't a complete disaster, I managed to win 5 out of seven games convincingly, drew one game, and lost my only game to team France who are now officially world champions (so I don't feel so bad about that one). I finished 38th in the world out of 320 and 2nd best in my faction. I couldn't really imagine that was possible going in, but the deeside defender communittee, league and improved skill level of our members has contributed significantly to this success... so thank you all!
What an experience, what an honour, what an effort!
